About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are located in Gavorrano, Grosseto, at 90 m above sea level. Their medium-textured soils are rich in stones. The vines are trained to spurred cordon at 5,900 plants per hectare and yield 55 quintals per hectare.
Grapes
100% Vermentino. The Mediterranean variety finds conditions suited to expressive white wines in the Tuscan Maremma.
Vinification
Harvesting is divided into two selections. The first takes place in late August, before the grapes are fully ripe, to retain high acidity; the second follows in early September to capture the aromatic expression of citrus and white-fleshed fruit. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, and malolactic fermentation is completed.
Ageing
Six months in stainless steel followed by four months in bottle.
Tasting profile
A full, rounded and balanced white with pronounced mineral flavours. The nose is fine and delicately fruity, with citrus notes; the palate is balanced and supported by acidity and minerality, giving savoury character and persistence. The current wine-page description also highlights delicate white-flower aromas.
Serving and pairing
A versatile partner for grilled fish, shellfish and white meats. Available in a 0.75 L format.
Label / history
The first vintage was 2010.
