About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vineyard was planted in 1992 next to Poggio alle Mura castle.

Grapes

The wine is made from a clone developed from Sangiovese grapes.

Vinification

The estate's winery has two-level duo vats, patented by Banfi, which combine oak and steel and are designed to work without pumps. The must from the best carefully selected grapes is macerated for 7–10 days. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation follow.

Ageing

The wine is aged for 12 months in new 350-litre French oak barriques, then bottled and matured for a further 6 months before release.

Tasting profile

Elegant, silky, fairly complex and beautifully balanced.

Label / history

Banfi regards it as its "super classic" from Montalcino. The wine brings together Tuscan winemaking traditions and innovation.
