About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from three plots totalling around 10 hectares within the south-facing Vigna Marrucheto vineyard, at approximately 200 metres above sea level. Planted in 2009, the vines grow in well-drained, marine-origin soils of clay-rich sand, rounded pebbles and ancient sedimentary rocks. The soils encourage deep root systems, contributing flavour concentration and minerality. The exposure supports full ripening, while temperature changes help preserve acidity and aromatic freshness.

Grapes

The wine draws on Sangiovese clones selected through more than twenty-five years of research into the soils of Montalcino.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place in Banfi’s custom Horizon hybrid tanks, constructed from stainless steel and French oak. The vessels preserve clean fruit character while allowing gentle tannin extraction.

Ageing

The wine matures for 30 months in large French oak casks of 60–90 hectolitres. This ageing makes the tannins silkier while retaining the capacity for further development in bottle.

Tasting profile

Refined and complex, with ripe fruit, richness and minerality. It has a well-defined structure, velvety tannins, aromatic freshness, acidity, energy and balance.

Serving and pairing

Pair with elaborate meat dishes.
