About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Castello Monaci is in Salento, in Apulia. The estate has more than 350 hectares of vineyards, together with land near Brindisi on the Adriatic coast used for experimental plantings of white varieties. Apulia is Italy’s sunniest region, while constant breezes from the nearby Mediterranean Sea provide cooling conditions that support refined, well-balanced fruit.
Grapes
The blend consists predominantly of Fiano, with a small proportion of Sauvignon Blanc.
Vinification
The two varieties are vinified separately at a controlled temperature of 15 °C, then blended and bottled after ageing.
Ageing
Each wine undergoes a short, unspecified period of ageing before blending and bottling.
Tasting profile
Delicate and feminine in style, with a well-structured palate and floral notes.
Label / history
In the local dialect, “Carusa Te Oru” means “golden girl,” words traditionally used by grandmothers in Salento when celebrating the birth of a girl in the family.
