About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Montepulciano vines are trained on the traditional overhead "Pergola" trellis, long used in Abruzzo. They grow in mineral-rich clay-limestone soil, which retains moisture; the moisture carries trace elements to the roots and gives the wine its distinctive character. The climate is Mediterranean, with cold winters, warm summers and moderate rainfall. The Adriatic Sea lies to the east and the Apennine Mountains give protection to the west. Large temperature differences between day and night, together with air currents from both sea and mountains, create ideal ripening conditions.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected in the first half of October. Skin maceration is short, 12 hours, followed by fermentation at 18 °C. The wine undergoes partial malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine is aged in vats for 3–4 months.
Tasting profile
A rich yet light rosé with cherry notes and gentle acidity.
