About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from the estate-owned vineyards dedicated to the Vino Nobile denomination in the hills of Acquaviva di Montepulciano, Siena. The estate’s broad range of vineyard exposures allows selection to respond to the conditions of each vintage.

Grapes

Sangiovese with other traditional grape varieties.

Vinification

Fermentation and maceration take place at a controlled 24–28°C, supported by daily pumping over and délestage. The wine is racked after maceration.

Ageing

Maturation continues in oak for at least 18 months.

Tasting profile

Cherry and red-fruit aromas are joined by darker-fruit and fine spice notes. The palate is elegant, substantial and balanced, with a clearly perceptible yet restrained tannic component and a long finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C in medium-sized wine glasses. Pair with antipasti, pasta dressed with meat sauces, filled pasta, grilled or casserole-cooked red meats, roasted meats and mature cheeses.

Label / history

Silìneo is Fattoria del Cerro’s classic interpretation of Vino Nobile, bringing together grapes from across the estate vineyards assigned to the denomination. Its style is conceived as a form of modern classicism that respects the potential of Sangiovese in Montepulciano. The invented name evokes elegance, sinuosity and balance, while its visual form recalls the harmonious contours of the vineyard-covered hills.
