About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from Gualdo Cattaneo in the province of Perugia.

Grapes

Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Merlot, with Sangiovese playing the leading role.

Vinification

Fermentation and maceration take place at a controlled 24–28°C, supported by daily pumping over and délestage. The wine is then racked.

Ageing

Maturation continues in stainless-steel tanks, followed by several months in bottle.

Tasting profile

Full-flavored and envelopingly rounded, with tannins that provide strength and character. The blend is shaped around the freshness and acidity associated with Montefalco Rosso, balanced by softness and regional character.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18°C in a medium-sized glass. It pairs with grilled or roasted white and red meats and can also accompany an aperitif or a complete meal.

Label / history

Rather than being treated simply as a lesser Sagrantino, Montefalco Rosso is presented as an expression of the versatility of the area. Còlpetrone has made it since the beginning of the estate’s history, using a multi-variety blend to create an everyday interpretation of Montefalco.
