Vineyard and terroir
The Merlot vineyards occupy plains, hills and plateaus formed over millions of years by Alpine tectonic and geomorphological processes. Their complex, well-drained soils contain abundant minerals, limestone and clay. The estate selected the vines carefully, controls planting density and crop levels, and uses green pruning when necessary.

Bright ruby red, with aromas of ripe red berries and spices. The wine combines power and strength with elegance and finesse.
Label / history
The Vistorta estate lies in the heart of western Friuli and has belonged to the Brandolini family since 1780. In 1800, Guido Brandolini took charge after graduating from the University of Padua, reorganising the estate, improving its management and investing substantially in modernising the winery. The property surrounding Villa Vistorta now covers 220 ha.
Brandino Brandolini, a graduate of the Texas University of Agricultural Sciences, has owned the estate since 1980. He studied Merlot cultivation and winemaking in Bordeaux and gained experience at Chateau Greysac, another Brandolini family property there. He applied this experience at Vistorta, introducing a French approach and concentrating on red-wine production. Working with Georges Pauli, oenologist at Chateau Gruaud Larose, he began planting new vineyards in late 1980. Integrated with the existing plantings, these vineyards became the basis for growing Bordeaux Merlot at Vistorta.
