About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from young vines planted on sunny, southeast-facing slopes in the commune of Cocconato.
Vinification
Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are harvested by hand in mid-September, while Barbera is picked in October. Each variety is vinified separately, undergoing a long fermentation and skin maceration at a controlled temperature before blending.
Ageing
After blending, the wine matures for one year in large oak casks, followed by several months in bottle.
Tasting profile
The aroma is complex, with an elegant tannic structure.
Label / history
The name “La Guardia” commemorates battles fought in the hills of Monferrato in Piedmont, where historic ruins associated with them remain. Romolo Dezzani founded his winery in Cocconato d’Asti in 1934.
