About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The principal source is a 0.89-hectare vineyard in the Boscatto area of Verduno, planted exclusively to Nebbiolo. It faces east and has white, predominantly limestone soil. A selection of estate-grown Nebbiolo from Faset and the lower part of Rabajà in Barbaresco is added each year.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
For the 2013 vintage, the grapes were harvested by hand on 9 October, with selection of the best bunches into 20 kg baskets. Maceration lasted 11 days in stainless-steel tanks, accompanied by regular manual punch-downs.
Ageing
The wine matured for nine months in stainless steel and rested for one month in bottle before release. It was bottled without filtration in two lots on 4 July and 11 November 2014.
Technical data
The 2013 vintage has 13.5% alcohol, total acidity of 5.5 g/L and pH 3.39. Production amounted to 11,833 Albeisa bottles of 0.75 L.
Tasting profile
Clear ruby red. The intense, floral aroma centers on violet and rose, supported by subtle, elegant spice. The palate is generous in feel and notably easy to drink.
Vintage notes
The 2013 growing season began slowly because March and April were cool. Frequent rain continued through May, followed by gradually improving conditions in June and greater stability in July. Nebbiolo particularly benefited from warm weather in September and October. Harvesting across the estate began about 15 days later than the recent ten-year average and finished in early November.
