About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Cabernet Sauvignon grows in vineyards in Livorno, on soils combining silt and sand.
Vinification
The 2018 grapes were harvested at full ripeness in late September, then carefully sorted and pressed. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, with daily pump-overs to extract colour and aroma. Maceration lasted about ten days, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, half new and half one year old. It matured for a further six months after bottling.
Label / history
“Campo alla Giostra” is an Italian term for a field used to train horses. The name refers to the racehorse Varenne, which trained in the estate’s stables.
