About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in the Primitivo di Manduria area between Manduria and Sava in Puglia. The vines are trained in the traditional alberello system, which limits yields and gives grapes with more concentrated flavours.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, then destemmed and crushed. Maceration lasts 8–10 days at a controlled temperature, with regular pumping over to extract colour, aromas and tannins. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation both take place in stainless steel tanks, which preserves the wine's clean fruit character.
Ageing
The wine ages for around 6 months in previously used oak barrels, which give a softer texture and additional spicy and woody notes.
Tasting profile
A vibrant southern character, shaped by sun, warm earth and sea breeze. Ripe dark berries and sweet spices come with soft tannins in a deep, balanced style with a distinctive Mediterranean personality.
Serving and pairing
Best with meat dishes; it also pairs well with game and aged cheeses.
Label / history
The label's symbols (sun, sea, earth and passion) stand for the four key elements that shape the wine's character and inspired the winemakers to create it. Luccarelli is a project established in 2008 by Terre Di Sava and Farnese Vini; Farnese has controlled it since 2013. The range was created to showcase the potential of Puglia and introduce consumers to the region's wines.
