About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Primitivo comes from vines more than 60 years old. The gnarled vines are deeply rooted in Terra Rossa soils and give small yields with remarkable aromatic concentration.
Vinification
Harvest is late, once the southern sun has slightly dried the berries. The grapes are destemmed and crushed, then macerated for 10–12 days with periodic pump-overs to maximise tannin extraction. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation both take place in stainless steel tanks, which softens the acidity while preserving the bright fruit character.
Ageing
After fermentation the wine spends 12 months in American and French oak barriques, where it develops its intense, spicy aroma.
Tasting profile
Powerful and full-bodied, combining generous fruit with an appealing elegance. The aroma is intense and vibrant, with ripe cherry and velvety chocolate. The palate is berry-rich, layered with spicy tobacco notes and a refreshing hint of mint.
Serving and pairing
Pairs with richly flavoured dishes such as roasted meat or vegetables.
Vintage notes
The 2022 can be kept until at least 2031.
