About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit grows in Greve in Chianti, at the heart of Chianti, a hilly area in central Tuscany. The vineyards are planted on grey-blue quartz sandstone soils with layers of sand and limestone. This terroir and the long growing season help produce elegant, highly aromatic wines. The estate, owned by Fantini Group, lies in the heart of Cerreto-Gundi, among Tuscan hills covered with vineyards where Sangiovese is the main grape variety. The climate is mostly continental: mild winters with sufficient rainfall and sunshine, then hot, dry summers cooled by brief showers.

Grapes

The description names Sangiovese and Canaiolo as the varieties.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, alternating between low and medium levels from 16 to 24 °C. Fermentation with macro-oxygenation lasts 10 days.

Ageing

The wine ages for 9 months in French oak barrels, then for at least 5 months in bottle after bottling.

Tasting profile

An elegant, highly aromatic red.
