About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the le Oche vineyard in the hills of Castelli di Jesi, at 380 m above sea level. The soil is a mixture of sand and clay, and the vines average 10 years of age. Geese manage the weeds and grass between the rows for Natalino Crognaletti.
Vinification
The wine undergoes 20 days of skin maceration and ferments with natural yeasts in concrete vats. It also undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
It matures for 12 months in concrete vessels.
Tasting profile
Bright citrus acidity accompanies an oily texture that can at times recall Riesling, with nutty notes on the palate.
Label / history
The wine takes its name from the le Oche vineyard; “oche” is Italian for the geese used there to control vegetation between the rows. Fattoria San Lorenzo has grown Verdicchio for several generations.
