About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Vigna La Rosa lies in Serralunga d’Alba at 250–310 metres above sea level, with south and south-west exposures. Its soils consist of calcareous marl and clay containing quartz sand. The vines are Guyot trained at a density of 4,400–5,000 plants per hectare. Harvest takes place during the first or second ten-day period of October.
Grapes
Nebbiolo.
Ageing
The wine matures for an average of three years in large casks made from Slavonian and central French oak. After bottling, it receives at least another 12 months of maturation, with the exact period determined by the vintage.
Technical data
Alcohol: 13.5% vol. The listed bottle size is 0.75 L, while the availability of additional formats depends on the vintage.
Tasting profile
Garnet red with ruby highlights. The broad, concentrated bouquet brings together ripe black fruit and intense spices. The palate has clearly perceptible, rich and firm tannins, supported by good acidity and a very persistent finish. Its Serralunga character is tempered by grace and softness in both flavour and aroma.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–18°C. Pair with substantial red-meat dishes and medium-aged or mature cheeses, or enjoy after dinner.
Vintage notes
The vintages represented here are 1998, 1997 and 1996. A single-vineyard Barolo typically reaches its peak eight to ten years after harvest, although its total lifespan varies substantially with vintage conditions.
Label / history
La Rosa belongs to a group of single-vineyard Barolos created through rigorous selections in vineyards preserved by tradition as benchmarks of quality. Its identity is shaped by the relationship between soil, sunlight and microclimate, which guides the technical choices made in the vineyard and cellar.
