About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Pinot Nero is grown in the vineyards of Castello di Pomino.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand early in the morning, placed in 15 kg crates and taken directly to the winery. They are gently pressed, then fermented in stainless-steel tanks and wooden vessels. Fermentation continues until March of the following year, when the tirage mixture is added to the cuvée.
Ageing
The wine rests on its lees for 40 months. After riddling, it ages for several more months in bottle in the winery’s cellars.
Tasting profile
Elegant.
Vintage notes
The very warm winter preceding the 2020 growing season led to early, even budding. Spring brought glossy, bright green foliage. Rainfall was regular during the two months before harvest and during véraison, while the remainder of the growing season was very sunny. At harvest, the grapes were plump, with good acidity, and the bunches arriving at the winery remained healthy over several weeks of picking. September was warm and dry.
