About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Calimaia vineyard lies in a historic winegrowing area of Montepulciano. Its vines grow at 300 m above sea level on plots with varied aspects and soil types.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Natural fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at 26 °C, with extended skin contact to maximise polyphenol extraction. Malolactic fermentation occurs in the same tanks and is completed in early winter.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in 50 L oak barrels, followed by four months in bottle in the winery’s cellars.
