About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
After selecting the vines destined for the Riserva, the best remaining grapes from two distinct pedoclimatic areas are used for this Brunello. Pinino lies in northern Montalcino at 284.2 m above sea level, with southeast exposure and stony soil containing galestro and alberese. Canchi is northeast of Montalcino at 318.2 m, also facing southeast; its soil is predominantly clay with silt. The vines are trained to spurred cordon.

Vintage notes
A colder-than-average winter preceded a fairly warm spring with rainfall around normal levels. June was relatively wet, allowing regular vine development and harmonious berry growth, while the remainder of summer was comparatively dry. September brought substantial day–night temperature variation and significant rain. The resulting later harvest delivered grapes with balanced technological and phenolic maturity and a notable aromatic component.
