About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo is grown in the municipalities of Alba, Magliano Alfieri and Treiso, at 220–400 metres above sea level. All the vineyards face southwest. In Alba and Treiso the soils are limestone-based, with clay and streaks of sand; in Magliano Alfieri they are looser and sandier. The vines are 20 years old on average.
Vinification
Harvest dates vary with the weather of the year, but the grapes are generally picked between 20 September and 10 October. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 27–30 °C for 10–12 days.
Ageing
The wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels, then for a further 8 months in the winery's cellars after bottling.
