About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Sangiovese Grosso vineyards lie at Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the southeastern part of the Montalcino denomination, an area associated with elegance and depth.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese Grosso.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested manually. Fermentation and maceration proceed in stainless steel at a controlled 24–28°C with daily pumping over and délestage. After alcoholic fermentation, post-fermentation maceration continues as the temperature is raised to 29°C.
Ageing
Following racking, the wine moves to oak barrels and receives weekly bâtonnage for the first four months. It spends 20 months ageing in wood. This extended maturation is intended to develop the wine’s aromas and fragrances.
Tasting profile
The palate is intense and firm, with light tannic grip, softness and persistent length.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C in large glasses. Pair with roasted white or red meat, poultry, game and aged cheeses.
