About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Friulano vines grow near the Adriatic Sea in a mild Mediterranean climate. The vineyards have clay-limestone soils rich in trace elements; the estate’s soils also contain dolomitic limestone and mineral deposits. The vines are 36 years old, planted at 4,300 vines per hectare, and yields do not exceed 80 hL.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in mid-September and undergo 24 hours of cold pre-fermentation maceration. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in temperature-controlled tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures in stainless-steel vats for several months.
Label / history
Tenuta Maccan was established in 2012. Its 23 ha estate is in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
