About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from 20-year-old vines grown in sandy moraine soil at 650 m above sea level. The altitude brings freshness and minerality to the wine.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-October. The must ferments for 15 days in stainless steel vats at 28 °C, with mechanical pump-overs every day.
Ageing
The wine ages for 12 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, followed by 6 months in bottle.
Label / history
Les Crêtes has produced the wine since 1995, when it was previously called "Coteau La Tour", after the vineyard. It began as a table wine because Valle d'Aosta had not yet been recognised as a DOP. The law changed in 2007, and the wine now carries the DOP classification.
