About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in the Casal dei Ronchi vineyard at Gargagnago, in the commune of Ambrogio di Valpolicella, on loose, limestone-rich red soils.
Vinification
The 2008 harvest began on 27 August. The grapes receive a long, gentle pressing, followed by 40 days of low-temperature fermentation in Slavonian oak and cherrywood barrels.
Ageing
The wine ages for one to two years, during which it develops its final level of sweetness, followed by a further six months in bottle.
Tasting profile
The palate is intriguing, elegant and rounded.
Vintage notes
In 2008, conditions were favourable for grape ripening. Heavy rain persisted throughout spring without causing major problems, while seasonal temperatures remained close to those traditionally recorded in the region.
