About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Paolo Meroi, a third-generation winemaker, grows the Chardonnay in the Colli Orientali del Friuli. The vines are 17 years old and yield little. The site has a favourable microclimate and marl soils. The text credits these with giving the wine complexity and concentration. Farming is exclusively organic.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand in early September. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels at a controlled temperature and lasts 15–20 days.

Ageing

The wine ages for at least 10 months in 225-litre barrels, both new and second-fill. After bottling it spends several more months in the winery's cellars.

Tasting profile

The aroma is intensely fruity. The palate is fresh and juicy, and it balances power with elegance.

Vintage notes

In 2023, periods of heat and drought alternated with prolonged rainfall in Italy, which reduced the size of the harvest. The fruit that was picked showed high quality and concentrated flavour and aroma. The wines of the year are described as having expressive depth, complex structure and a captivating aroma.
