About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from southwest-facing vineyards in Colli Orientali del Friuli at 110 m above sea level. The predominantly marl soils contribute a mineral character. The estate farms organically, limits yields to 25 hl/ha and uses 45-year-old vines.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in early September and carefully selected. Following gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in oak barrels at a controlled temperature for 25 days. The wine is lightly filtered before bottling.
Ageing
The wine matures for 10 months in second-use French oak barrels, followed by two months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Energetic, elegant and balanced, with moderate citrus acidity and a distinctive mineral character. The finish is long.
Serving and pairing
Pair with meat appetisers, seafood or fish dishes.
Vintage notes
Italy’s 2023 growing season alternated between heat and drought and periods of persistent heavy rain, reducing the harvest. The small quantity of fruit picked showed concentrated flavours and aromas. The resulting wines had complexity, depth and striking aromas.
