About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Merlot grows on slopes in Colli Orientali del Friuli at 140 m, with southeastern exposure and predominantly marl soils. The vines average 30 years of age and are farmed organically, without pesticides or herbicides.
Grapes
The wine is made exclusively from Merlot.
Vinification
Harvest runs from the first to the third week of October, with the grapes picked once they reach the required ripeness. Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless-steel tanks for two weeks. Malolactic fermentation follows in oak barrels at a controlled temperature for 15–20 days. The wine is bottled without filtration.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in barriques, 60% of which are new, followed by six months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Rich and expressive, with elegant notes of deep red fruit and gentle spice from its maturation in oak.
Label / history
Average annual production is 2,800 bottles.
