About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Cannonau fruit is grown in the heart of Sardinia. The Mediterranean climate brings low, unevenly distributed rainfall, high spring and summer temperatures, and winters ranging from cold and dry to mild. The Scirocco wind influences the wine’s warm character. Naturally rich, medium-textured soils combine sand with calcareous clay and have a good mineral supply; sandstone and granite notes express the local terroir.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested during the first ten days of October and macerated for 10–15 days.
Ageing
The wine rests in concrete tanks and oak barrels for at least six months, followed by three months in bottle.
Tasting profile
The wine has a warm character, with notes of sandstone and granite.
Label / history
In Sardinia and in Spanish, “Mesa” literally means “dining table.” Here, the name represents food, feasting, a mother’s love, simplicity and aromas. The white façade of the winery bears ornaments inspired by traditional Sardinian carpet-weaving patterns; designed by founder Gavino Sanna, the same motifs appear on every Cantina Mesa bottle.
