About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Cannonau comes from vertical-trellised vineyards in lower Sulcis, rooted in sandy soils mixed with weathered granite. Noras is part of the Radici range, dedicated to more intense, layered expressions of native Sulcis varieties through careful grape selection and more elaborate winemaking.
Grapes
Cannonau.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in September. Two consecutive vinification descriptions appear: one specifies soft pressing and temperature-controlled stainless-steel vinification, followed by evolution in concrete on the lees; the other specifies approximately 15 days of alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, with maceration and frequent pump-overs to extract polyphenols from the skins.
Ageing
One description places the wine in concrete tanks on its lees until bottling to build roundness and flavour. The following description instead states that the wine is transferred in early December to fine-grained French-oak barriques for approximately six months, followed by about six months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Light ruby red tending towards garnet. The complex, Mediterranean nose offers ripe blueberry and blackberry, sweet-toned spices, tobacco and chocolate. The palate is warm and supple, with noble tannins of unusual intensity.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–18 °C. Pair with structured dishes, grilled meats or fish, game and cheese.
