About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from vines growing in volcanic soils on the slopes of Taurasi, particularly near Paternopoli. The vines are now more than 200 years old and survived the spread of phylloxera in the 19th century.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand between late October and early November and transported to the winery in small crates. They are pressed and macerated in steel tanks for about three weeks, with fermentation taking place on the skins. The wine is then separated from the pomace.
Ageing
The wine ages for 24 months in new French oak barriques, followed by a further 12 months in bottle in the winery’s cellars.
Tasting profile
Elegant and deeply concentrated.
Label / history
“Bicento” literally means “twice one hundred” and refers to the vines’ age of 200 years. The number 53 identifies the rows considered the oldest and longest-lived. The wine has received gold medals at the Berliner Wein Trophy and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
