About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Barbera grapes grow in the areas of Mombaruzzo and Nizza Monferrato. The bunches are thinned, and only carefully selected grapes are picked.
Vinification
Under Nizza DOCG regulations the grapes must be harvested entirely by hand.
Ageing
Nizza DOCG rules require at least 20 months of ageing: a minimum of 12 months in small French oak barrels and a minimum of 3 months in bottle. Between these two stages the wine is kept in neutral steel tanks.
Tasting profile
Aromatic, rich and elegant. The wine benefits from some time to open up fully, and over the next couple of years a refined, rich fruit character can be expected to develop.
Vintage notes
The 2022 growing season was dry. It produced grapes with high sugar levels and good phenolic ripeness, which usually results in slightly higher alcohol.
