About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from a 1 ha vineyard in Località San Biagio, Santa Maria di La Morra, with a north-western exposure. Riesling was planted there in 2006 beside Chardonnay vines established during the 1990s.
Grapes
Blend proportions vary by vintage. The latest published composition is 100% Riesling Renano, comprising two selected clones. During the wine’s early years, Chardonnay formed part of the blend and the share of Riesling increased progressively; the wine has been entirely Riesling from the 2016 vintage onward.
Vinification
Harvest normally takes place in the first week of September. The intact grapes are chilled for approximately 12 hours under controlled conditions, then destemmed and pressed whole. After static settling at 10°C, the must is racked and undergoes alcoholic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine rests on its lees for approximately 6 months. Bottling takes place in April or May, followed by approximately 2 years of bottle storage in the winery before release. The bottle is finished with a screw cap.
Technical data
Annual production is approximately 4,000 bottles.
Tasting profile
Pale yellow with subtle green highlights. The focused bouquet shows faint hydrocarbon notes, while the palate is savoury and mineral.
Serving and pairing
Suitable with antipasti, pasta dishes, vegetable risottos and cheeses.
