About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The wine is made from Erbaluce grown in the Canavese. Orsolani produces its wines almost entirely from estate vineyards situated in the area's traditional growing zones. The wider Canavese landscape was shaped by glaciers: its moraine soils contain abundant mineral material, sand and stones rounded during glacial movement. The local climate is mild, with an average annual temperature just below 13 °C and temperatures that can reach 25 °C in August, an important month for ripening.

Grapes

100% Erbaluce, the native variety at the centre of Orsolani's production. Its berries are spherical and thick-skinned; with suitable sun exposure they become golden at maturity.

Vinification

A white sparkling wine made by the Metodo Classico and finished at Extra Brut dosage.

Ageing

Extended contact with the lees contributes a light bread-crust character. The precise lees-ageing period is not specified.

Tasting profile

Bright yellow, with a particularly fine and elegant perlage. Delicate aromatic herbs and aniseed shape the bouquet, accompanied by a light bread-crust note from the prolonged lees ageing. The palate is concentrated and full-bodied, with pronounced minerality and savoury character. The Extra Brut dosage gives the wine a dry profile.

Serving and pairing

Its structure, savoury character and restrained dosage position it as a gastronomic sparkling wine.

Label / history

Orsolani began its tradition of producing sparkling Erbaluce in 1968. More than fifty years later, the variety remains central to the cellar's Metodo Classico production.
