About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the estate’s younger plots, where vines aged 5–30 years grow at 680–750 metres above sea level on black and brown volcanic soils.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-October. They undergo 10 days of skin maceration, with daily pumping over during the first week. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The 2013 vintage rested for 12 months in stainless-steel tanks and approximately two years in bottle.
Tasting profile
Elegant, mature and well balanced.
Label / history
The name “Mofete” comes from the scientific term for gas emissions associated with a volcanic eruption.
