About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie in the Montiano area of Maremma Tuscany at 150 metres above sea level. They face west and are ventilated by maritime breezes. The wine’s vineyard entry identifies marl and sandstone soils; the estate’s description of Montiano also records sandstone with quartz bands. Planting density is 5,600 vines per hectare, trained to cordon at a height of 0.80 metres.
Grapes
85% Sangiovese, 10% Malvasia nera and 5% Alicante.
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in tonneaux.
Ageing
The wine matures for 10 months in 400-litre tonneaux.
Technical data
Production is stated as 150 hl, corresponding to an availability of 20,000 bottles.
