About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from estate vineyards in Montalcino, situated at 350–500 metres above sea level with south-western exposure. The broad-textured galestro soils support vines aged between 15 and 20 years. The vineyards are trained to spur-pruned cordon at a density of 5,000 vines per hectare.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese Grosso.

Vinification

The grapes are picked by hand into crates at the end of September. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at 28–30°C for 12–14 days. Automatic pistons punch down the cap during fermentation.

Ageing

The wine matures for 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks with capacities of 50–100 hl, followed by at least six months of bottle ageing.

Technical data

Produced in a 750 ml format, with an approximate release of 60,000 bottles. Its expected longevity exceeds 30 years.

Tasting profile

Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The broad, persistent bouquet combines ripe red fruit with spicy notes. The palate is full, harmonious and persistent, with well-integrated, supple tannins and a fresh, savoury character.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18°C. Pair with grilled meats, game, mature cheeses and truffles, or enjoy on its own as a contemplative wine.
