About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The project began in 2010 with a more detailed subdivision and zonation of Villa Poggio Salvi’s 20 hectares in Montalcino. This work identified a cru considered to express the most prominent characteristics sought for Brunello di Montalcino. Its grapes have subsequently been harvested and vinified separately while retaining the estate’s established production philosophy.

Label / history

The wine takes its name from Pomona, the figure represented on Villa Poggio Salvi’s labels since 1979. Depicted as a woman with grape-like hair, Pomona is the Roman goddess of fruit and is also associated with olives and vines. The contemporary labels reinterpret the original Pomona created by Maurizio di Robilant in 1979.
