About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Richiari is produced from Vigneto Richiari on the Ruffoli hill in Greve in Chianti, Firenze, within the Chianti Classico area. The hillside vineyard lies at an average elevation of 370 m and faces southwest. Its sandy, silty soil contains abundant stones, and the Chardonnay is trained to low spurred cordon.
Grapes
100% Chardonnay.
Vinification
Harvest takes place in the second half of September. The grapes undergo cold maceration followed by soft pressing. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in 228 L oak barrels, half of them new.
Ageing
The wine remains on its lees with bâtonnage during the first three months, then continues to mature in the same barrels for a total of 9–10 months. Bottling takes place in June or July, followed by at least six months of bottle maturation.
Technical data
Alcohol: 13.5% vol. Average annual production: 900 bottles of 750 ml.
Tasting profile
