About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from 2 ha of vineyards at 350 m a.s.l., with an eastern exposure and clay-sandy soils. Planting density is 4,500 vines per hectare. Harvesting is performed by hand into crates.

Grapes

90% Chardonnay and 10% Roussanne. Poliziano stopped planting white varieties in 1990, subsequently resumed work with Chardonnay and Roussanne clones, and created Ambrae as a new white-wine label.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of approximately 20°C, with selected yeasts.

Ageing

The wine matures for 6 months in stainless steel and a further 3 months in bottle. Oak is not used.

Technical data

IGT Toscana Bianco. First produced in 1993. Average production is 7,000 bottles.

Tasting profile

Conceived as a youthful, fresh white, with depth associated with the Poliziano terroir.

Label / history

Ambrae emerged after the estate resumed the production of Chardonnay and Roussanne following a period without new white-grape plantings.
