About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vines grow at 300 metres above sea level and are between 10 and 20 years old. Planting density is 4,000 vines per hectare, and yields are below average.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand between 10 and 20 September.

Ageing

The wine rests on its lees for four months after fermentation.

Tasting profile

The 2011 vintage is smooth and fruity, with a full flavour, an intense aroma and a warm, long finish.

Label / history

First made in 1999, the wine emerged from a 20-year vine-replanting experiment intended to revive traditional regional varieties that had almost disappeared, including Bombino, Bellone, Bonvino and Greco Bianco. Originally named “Selezione Verde,” it was later renamed “Poggio Verde,” meaning “green hill.”
