About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Nebbiolo comes from the “Ormeggio” and “Castagnola” vineyards near the village of Lessona in the Orolungo area, and from the “Cova” vineyard in Castello. The vineyards lie at 290–350 metres above sea level. The vines were planted in 1960, 1970 and 2005.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation and maceration on the skins take place in wooden vats for 26 days.
Ageing
The wine ages in oak barrels for 34 months, including 18 months on the fine lees, followed by about one year in bottle.
Label / history
Proprieta Sperino restored its historic cellars as part of its effort to revive Lessona’s winemaking tradition.
