About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Pinot Noir and Chardonnay come from a small vineyard in Alta Langa, nearly 700 metres above sea level.
Grapes
Around 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay.
Vinification
The grapes undergo soft pressing, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. Tirage takes place in the spring after harvest. Produced by the traditional method as a pas dosé sparkling wine, with zero dosage at disgorgement.
Ageing
The wine spends more than 50 months on its lees in bottle.
Tasting profile
Bright straw yellow with golden highlights and a fine, persistent perlage. The aromatic profile combines white-fleshed fruit and delicate citrus with hints of bread crust and light mineral nuances.
Serving and pairing
Suited to an aperitif as well as fish-based first and main courses, white meats and other delicate dishes.
Label / history
The 2020 vintage marked Ratti’s first metodo classico sparkling wine. Its label is the first in the range to feature a woman: the vivandiera. Vivandiere accompanied armies—including the Piedmontese army—on military campaigns from the 18th through the 20th century. Alongside supplying provisions, they cared for wounded and sick soldiers. This nursing role is linked in the label narrative to the creation of the Red Cross following the Battle of Solferino in 1859.
