About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vineyards occupy the north-east slope of Montalcino Hill at 300 m above sea level. Their medium-textured soils contain clay and marine fossils, with alberese in the highest areas. Older vines are spur-cordon trained, while newer parcels use Guyot. The organically managed vineyards employ mating disruption against grapevine moth, organic humus, cover crops and green manure. Individual parcels are harvested, vinified and aged separately.

Grapes

The 2024 wine is 100% Sangiovese. The harvest took place during the last week of September, with the fruit picked manually into small crates.

Vinification

The grapes undergo overnight cold maceration at 5°C in a refrigerated room. Alcoholic fermentation lasts 12 days in stainless-steel tanks at 26°C, with frequent pump-overs, followed by 40 days of skin maceration.

Ageing

The wine matures for 12 months in 35 hl casks made from Slavonian and French oak, followed by at least eight months in bottle.

Technical data

Rosso di Montalcino DOC. Alcohol: 14%.

Tasting profile

The 2024 wine has a bright, vivid ruby-red colour. The style is selected from parcels showing immediate appeal and approachability during fermentation and ageing, together with an intense floral and fruity bouquet.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 17–18°C in a large Burgundy- or Bordeaux-style glass, allowing the floral and fruit aromas to open fully.

Vintage notes

Blend proportions vary by vintage. Latest published composition: 100% Sangiovese.
