About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The inaugural 2022 vintage is described as coming from the Scannano farm vineyards in Serre di Rapolano. The narrative associates it with approximately 2 ha of medium-textured soil containing a substantial clay component and a lower mineral presence. The technical table instead identifies the source as the 4 ha La Stella vineyard in Gaiole in Chianti, with deep clay-bearing soils and calcareous sedimentary rocks.

The vines range from 6 to 10 years old, are Guyot-trained and planted at 5,000 vines per hectare. The stated average elevation is 300 m, the exposure runs from east to west, and average yield is 1.5 kg per vine.

Grapes

100% Malvasia Toscana.

Vinification

Harvest extends from the second half of September through the first week of October. Maceration is stated as approximately 15 days at 25°C. Fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place in stainless steel.

Ageing

Matured in stainless-steel tanks.

Technical data

Tasting profile

Full-bodied and structured, combining freshness, body and mineral character. The wine was conceived in a youthful, colourful and convivial style, with an informal funk-and-rock identity.

Label / history

BoscoRiccio Bianco was created to interpret the traditional Tuscan presence of Malvasia from a contemporary perspective. Its first vintage was 2022. The name is a dedication to the local landscape: “Bosco” evokes the forest surrounding the estate, while “Riccio” refers to the spiny chestnut casing and therefore to the chestnut tree, or castagno, from which Castagnoli takes its name. The wine was designed around conviviality, easy drinking and the pleasure of sharing wine without formality.
