Label / history
“Insula” is Latin for “island”, and the wine is dedicated to Sardinia as a whole. Monica is considered native to the island, although legend holds that the Spanish brought it there around the eleventh century during Aragonese rule. Initially cultivated near Alghero, it later spread across Sardinia through monks of the Camaldolese Order, who planted it near their monasteries. The island’s popularity is partly associated with the variety.
