About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from the Roncaglie cru at Tenuta Roncaglia in Barbaresco. The vineyard contains marked soil variation, and its vines were planted in 1970, 1980, 1995 and 2010. Harvesting takes place manually in seven or eight successive passes, with each stage determined by the ripeness and quality of the grapes.
Only great vintages are selected for this Riserva. A limited bottling is drawn from the cask judged to contain the finest wine.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and pressed. Maceration with the skins lasts 12–15 days, with a maximum temperature of approximately 30 °C. Malolactic fermentation is completed before winter.
Ageing
In spring, the wine is transferred to oak barrels for 12–14 months. Unlike many Riserva wines, it does not receive a longer period in wood than Barbaresco Roncaglie. The approach instead emphasizes extended bottle maturation, allowing the wine to reach balance and readiness according to the character of each vintage. The 2015 remained in bottle for 60 months.

Tasting profile
An intense garnet-red wine with rich, complex aromas of blackberry, cardamom, cinnamon, lavender, dried dog rose and violet. It combines the classical profile of Barbaresco with the elegance of the Roncaglie cru. The palate is rich, enveloping and intense, with a distinctive yet pleasurable character. Velvety tannins carry the long finish, and the wine has substantial ageing potential.
