About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Gewürztraminer comes from hillside vineyards above the Turmhof estate in Niclara and Cortaccia. The 2021 technical sheet describes chalk-gravel moraine soil. The vineyard overview additionally identifies Penon, Hofstatt and Rain, with east-facing sites at 400–650 m on calcareous, sandy dolomite soils, and Entiklar and Margreider Leiten, with south-facing sites at 220–350 m on calcareous gravel soils derived from moraine deposits. The page separately gives an overall vineyard altitude of 320–450 m.
The vines are trained to Guyot, planted at densities of up to 6,000 vines per hectare, and are 15–20 years old. Plantings date from 1995 onward. Yield is 40 hl/ha.
