Label / history
The name Piantaferro combines pianta, meaning plant or crop, with ferro, meaning iron or stake. It refers to a local farming tradition in which farmers marked newly discovered fertile land by driving a stake into the ground. The trademark depicts three stylized rows of vines, symbolizing the fertility of the Piave land.
The name 47 Anno Domini refers to 47 AD, the year Emperor Claudius completed the Roman road known as Claudia Augusta. The winery’s 25 hectares of vineyards now lie on both sides of this road, which runs through the property.
