About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The estate has 25 ha of vineyards on both sides of the historic Claudia Augusta road, which runs through the winery. The soils are mainly clay, rich in mineral salts and difficult to cultivate. The vineyards lie near the Piave River, a few kilometres from the Adriatic coast and close to the historic centre of Treviso.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness, carefully sorted and gently pressed. The must is cooled and clarified by flotation before alcoholic fermentation. It is then cooled to 8–12 °C and becomes the base wine after eight days. Following sterile filtration, sugar and yeasts selected for sparkling-wine production are added. Secondary fermentation takes place in an autoclave. The finished wine is filtered and decanted under isobaric conditions before bottling.
Label / history
The name 47 Anno Domini refers to 47 AD, when Emperor Claudius completed the Claudia Augusta, an important Roman road named for its role in communications across the empire.
