About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on the Gargano Peninsula in Puglia, in distinctive white, rocky limestone soils dating from the Kimmeridgian period and warmed by the sun.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed directly, yielding pale-coloured juice. Fermentation begins naturally in open steel tanks without temperature control. The wine is bottled without filtration.
Ageing
The wine rests for six months in large steel vats.
Tasting profile
Lively, focused and fresh, with a mineral character. It also has what the producer terms a masculine character.
Label / history
Valentina Passalacqua created the Calcarius collection to explore the meeting point between art and science. Its central ideas are rationality, exploration, minerals and limestone.
